April Fool's Day is supposed to be fun.
DA members shouldn't get so upset about DA's prank. XD It was a harmless, happy joke. They always change the signatures and icons back, so it's not even any trouble to the site members. A lot of people look forward to April Fool's Day for website pranks. It's just one day on the website; if you're mad they changed your stuff because you paid, start a petition so that paying members can opt in to seeing the April Fool's prank, but part of the glory of the prank is that it's sitewide and thus nondiscriminatory. I doubt people are going to judge you on your views from glancing at your avatar or signature for one day when they notice that everyone else has the same thing on what happens to be April Fool's day. Seems a little paranoid to me.

I've seen several people say they were offended because it was Twilight which they consider to be sexist. XD Well maybe PETA was offended that we had mudkips last year, which is utilizing animal labor for human benefit. We are exploiting the mudkips! Oh no! Or how about the fact that it is anecdotal to a joke from 4chan- we are stealing other people's material! Worse, the version of the joke I heard was supposed to be creepy and imply that someone was trying to sleep with a middle school student. DA was promoting child molestation!!!!

XD Sorry, I just think this was ridiculous.

Twilight wasn't sexist. XP Girl vampires were just as strong as guy vampires. A lot of them had special powers. Edward encouraged Bella to go to college; though she didn't actually go in the series, Bella was still excited about potentially going to college when she settled down. Bella was given the opportunity to argue her point to be turned, even though Edward didn't want her to be changed. She created and agreed to terms of her own free will. As for needing Edward to protect her, of course she'll need help to defend herself when she's human. She's up against VAMPIRES! XD I think it's logical that they would probably kill her if she was on her own, and Edward was usually there when she was in trouble because he loved her so much.

The point of feminism is female empowerment - which is the ability to CHOOSE what you want to do. It doesn't mean that every woman should automatically learn how to change a flat tire, or how to shoot an AK-47 with accuracy. It wasn't meant to turn women into masculine fighting machines. The point of it is to give women the opportunity to do so if they want to. If you are female and choose not to do something because YOU do not want to do it, then that is STILL supporting feminism, even if you decide to be a housewife or knit for a living (or even just for fun!).

Sorry for the rant, but I just couldn't believe that people turned a harmless joke into an ploy on sexism. XD If you want to read something sexist, how about the Decameron? Then come back and tell me Twilight was bad.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference

For instead of wandering rolling hills
I took a way of rocks and marsh
Of frightful heat and freezing chills
with dreadful plights and tested wills
The ground beneath me ever harsh

While demons, joyous, pranced 'round my sight
taunting as each surrounded me
The worst of hell's devils with heavenly light
In great imitation of angelic might
Their claws extended greedily

Yet I would not let them draw me down
Though the trap lay quite prettily
Into their stinking vipers nest
Of tearful woe and ignorance
I yet grasped my sanity

When I emerged from Satan's wood
The path that held my fateful dance
A wiser man, I understood
Much better then ever I would
If not for happy circumstance

The path less traveled by those who fear
Tempting evil this world does bear
In pretty trimmings quite austere
The bones of victims yesteryear
Ornaments of the Forest Despair

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference

Hello, all.

It has been quite a while since I've posted anything on this account, however as I've been commenting on several journals and likely stirred up quite a bit of distaste I thought it would only be courteous to provide an introduction for all of the people who are sure to look at my profile in an effort to figure out exactly the best way to return fire, to determine my character, or simply out of curiosity.

My name is Alyssa Williams. I like sunsets, long walks on the beach, and peach cobbler. I do not like people picking on friends of mine, picking on friends of mine in extremely lame ways, and people picking on friends of mine in extremely lame ways and hiding it on various accounts or being just as hypocritical as they say earlier mentioned friend of mine is by doing exactly what they are condemning them for.

My apologies to those of you on this list that are unaware of what is going on. I have confidence that you can piece it together from the above, but in case you are tired it is merely that one companion of mine is having trouble with ex-friends teasing her. I do not have a vested hatred of these persons nor do I consider their arguments to have much merit; I am,however, a firm believer that one sticks up for injured friends whether or not they ask, and so I have endeavored to do just this. Out of mere courtesy I will leave the name of the person out, but they are welcome to identify their self if they wish, as are the people who are unhappy with me for my comments. I will try to return any comments left on my journal or my deviant art "wall", however do not expect me to go scouring your accounts for any posts about me. I haven't the desire to wander about cyberspace for such a purpose, and have much better things to do with my time.

I apologize for the length and drama of this to all who are uninvolved, but I didn't want to leave people wondering.

On a brighter note, I hope to look through all of these artworks listed in my account. I can't wait to see what everyone had done in my absence. ^^

I hope everyone is having a wonderful evening, and happy Friday the 13th. Good news, if you're Italian.

I'm bored. XP

I have mah job at Walmart and I'm averaging about 30 hours a week. ^^ Which is good, because I desperately need the money. XP I don't think I'm going to clear as much money as I usually do over the summer, so this fall will be extra tight. I'm getting paid less there and I have taxes taken out, so bleh.
I might be getting a second job though, which would be good, because it pays more and it's also part time. And at least I can use this as a reference on my resume. Perhaps I'll be able to get a job somewhere else in the fall.

Bad news: car is out. u.u Too many expenses at home, and the lack of money for the fall means no car. Not even a rustbucket. XP Dad still wants to get me a scooter but I keep telling him they get stolen.
I can't carry that thing up the stairs either. < < I'll kill my back.

My brother is heading off to college in two weeks or so I believe. He's going to UF and he's starting the summer term. My mom is getting more and more emotional. >.X But we've been expecting this. < <

Been drawing a lot of things for my dad's softball sign ups. Yet to be paid by the town for my services rendered though. XD' Also might be umpiring some of the games for a little bit of cash too later in the season. Still a while before that though.

I have art that needs coloring but every time I look at it it looks terrible. XP' And when I try to redraw it, it looks terrible. XD So I must be in a growing art spurt. Hopefully it will end soon. XP

I miss going over to Jodi's house. >.X It made summer lots more fun. XP' Damn you two for moving *Shakes fist at Jodi and Steph*

Anyway, not much else to say. XD Tired, but always tired.  The rum theory didn't work. XP'

A plus: I have both of the Twilight soundtracks. My mom is seriously into Twilight. XD I think she likes it more then I do. Harry Potter all over again. XD'''
Although she agrees that Kristen Stewart sucks. XP We know Edward can act because he was Cedric Diggory in HP.

Anywho,s ee you all around! ^^

My titles are so original.
Anywho, I just looked through 60 some deviations and a few journals (not many because the journal tool sucks).
I'll be looking through the rest probably later today if not tomorrow.
My brother graduated so he is out of high school now. ^^ He lost his school tassel on the way home, or rather my dad lost it for him. XD So we're going to contact the company to get him another one. He doesn't seem to mind much though.

I do have a job now. I'm a cashier at Walmart. XP' I'm getting oriented to the policies on Tues and then I work weekends. ^^

I'm bored, so here ish a meme my one friend just did. I'll read her answers as I substitute my own. XP"
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS

ANGER
1. With whom did you last get angry?
My dad, for picking on me about how I dress.

2. What is your weapon of choice?
Wit.

3. Would you hit a member of the opposite sex?
If I felt they deserved it or it was necessary.

4. How about of the same sex?
If I felt they deserved it or it was necessary.

5. Who was the last person who got really angry at you?
Hmm...I don't know. I have minor disagreements with people, but I don't know anyone who was seriously pissed with me lately, or else if they have been I'm blind and didn't notice.
Part of my minor disagreements is not everybody gets meh jokes. XP' Or I explain them when they do and I don't think they have.

6. What is your pet peeve?
Hearing people chew their food (Mouth open usually). Gum and crunchy things drives me insane.

7. Do you keep grudges, or can you let them go easily?
Some but not many. When I think something was utterly stupid, I usually hold a grudge about it for a while, though I try not to let it interfere with too many activities. Or if it was seriously offensive or bad, like the kid who picked on my younger brother when he was 10 years older than him.
Other than that, not really.

SLOTH
1. What is one thing you're supposed to do daily that you haven't done in a long time?
Not so much daily but weekly, I haven't been keeping up with my one book a week promise since I left school. But I don't have as many new books on hand either, and I was a bunch of books ahead of schedule, so I don't feel too bad. XP'

2. What is the latest you've ever woken up?
Hmm... if we're goign by consecutive hours, than I slept in until 11 oclock one night. The latest I've ever woken up would be 4 pm (napped at 3pm once, was a few years ago), or around 2:30 in the afternoon, when I'd gone to bed around 8 am that morning.

3. Name a person you've been meaning to contact, but haven't
My grandmother.

4. What is the last lame excuse you made?
Angie did it.

5. Have you ever watched an infomercial all the way through (one of the long ones)?
Yes.

6. When was the last time you got a good workout in?
Hmm... probably when I was moving all of my stuff out of my apartment. I walked 5 miles the other day with my mom, and I lifted weights for a while the other day, but it was all easy and didn't take too long.

7. How many times did you hit the snooze button on your alarm clock today?
I don't use my alarm to wake up. XP I wake up at seven every morning on my own, and usually a few times before then.

GLUTTONY
1. What is your overpriced yuppie beverage of choice?
Mountain Dew or Cherry Coke.

2. Meat eaters: white meat or dark meat?
White, though I can't really taste the difference unless I have them side by side.

3. What is the greatest amount of alcohol you've had in one sitting/outing/event?
A bottle of wine on my own, but a few various beverages at my friend's and roomate's 21st birthday parties.

4. Have you ever used a professional diet company?
No.

5. Do you have an issue with your weight?
I could probably lose a few pounds and tone up my midsection, but generally I think I'm okay.

6. Do you prefer sweets, salty foods, or spicy foods?
Sweet.

7. Have you ever looked at a small house pet or child and thought, LUNCH?
Well we remark about how we're going to cook our animals for a holiday dinner a lot, but I've never seriously thought of eating them.

LUST
1. How many people have you seen naked (not counting movies/family)?
None, unless we're talking about bathing, in which case I've bathed several young children as a request from the parents while I was their summer nanny.

2. How many people have seen YOU naked (not counting physicians/family)?
None that I can recall.

3. Have you ever caught yourself staring at the chest/crotch of a member of your gender of choice during a normal conversation?
Not during conversation, but I do look. Trying to figure out how to draw, I consider it research.

4. Have you done it?
Nope.

5. What is your favourite body part on a person of your gender of choice?
Hmm... I like the torso or waist, when the person is in shape. The lines are pretty.

6. Have you ever been propositioned by a prostitute?
Nope!

7. Have you ever had to get tested for an STD or pregnancy?
Nope, but I've had the routine AIDS testing when I've donated blood before. XD I don't have it.

GREED
1. How many credit cards do you own?
None, but I have a debit.

2. What's your guilty pleasure store?
Barnes and Nobles? Borders? XD Waldenbooks? XP Do you see a pattern here?

Pay off my parent's house, pay off our student loans, go to a good law school, buy a small house, and put the rest in the bank for emergencies.

Famous, but only if it were in a good way (Awesome discovery, or an actress or performer of some sort that was in good standing and health).

I think my college grades and standing, but they could definitely be better.

3. What thing would you like to accomplish in your life?
To be a good mommy.

4. Do you get annoyed by coming in second place?
Yes, if I don't think the person who came in first was better. I do like to be the best, but I can lose if I don't think I am.

5. Have you ever entered a contest of skill, knowing you were of much higher skill than all the other competitors?
Yes, but generally as a child on little things like class flexibility contests and stuff. XP

6. Have you ever cheated on something to get a higher score?
Yes.

7. What did you do today that you're proud of?
Nothing.

ENVY
1. What item (or person) of your friends would you most want to have for your own?
Item or person? What? How does that work?
Item...a pell grant. XD' If that counts.
Person? I'd like to have their artistic abilities, if that's what that means.

No one.
